10th Street

The 10th Street access point in Buffalo City provides public boat launch facilities on the Mississippi River in Pool 5A of the Upper Mississippi River Valley. This is a major river access point on the Wisconsin (left/downstream) side of the Mississippi, located at approximately river mile 814. The ramp serves paddlers, boaters, and anglers accessing this scenic stretch of river between Minnesota City, MN and Winona, MN.

Paddlers should be prepared for a large, powerful river system. The Mississippi here maintains an average flow of approximately 685,000 cubic feet per second with an average velocity of 11 feet per second, making it suitable primarily for experienced boaters. The relatively gentle gradient (0.8 ft/mile average) means the water is generally manageable, though current and barge traffic should be expected. Public facilities are scattered throughout Pool 5A, though note that there is no public access directly at the Lock and Dam structure itself.
