The 9-Mile Road boat ramp in St. Clair Shores provides convenient public access to Lake St. Clair and is open to both residents and non-residents for a nominal fee. The facility features three launch ramps and ample parking, including overflow areas to accommodate busy periods. Note that there is some distance to walk from parking to the launch, so plan accordingly, especially during peak morning hours when the ramp can get congested.
This location is an excellent starting point for exploring Lake St. Clair's open waters. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for conditions typical of a large freshwater lake. The facility is managed by St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Department. If you're interested in exploring nearby protected waters, the DNR ramp across from the South Channel (at approximately 7000 South Channel Drive) provides alternative access to Little Muscamoot Bay.
