Ackley Lake State Park in Hobson offers two boat ramps for convenient lake access in central Montana. This scenic park is situated on a good-sized lake surrounded by cottonwood trees and provides a rustic camping experience with 26 first-come, first-served campsites. The park also features a seasonal boat dock, vault toilets, and established fire pits at each campsite. Note that there is no potable water or electricity available in the park.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and tiger muskie, making it popular with anglers who can fish from shore or by boat. Be prepared for occasional windy conditions. Montana residents camp free, while non-residents pay a nightly fee. The lake's water comes from the Judith River and is maintained for irrigation purposes. This is a good option for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters seeking a quieter, more remote Montana paddling experience with nearby camping amenities.
