About This Access Site
Located in Auxier near Paintsville, the Airport access point (also known as Damsite) provides a convenient launch onto the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River. This single-lane concrete ramp features a large paved parking area with easy pedestrian access to the water, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The facility is part of the Paintsville Lake recreation area.

The Levisa Fork offers boating and fishing opportunities through a rural section of eastern Kentucky between Pikeville and Paintsville. This access point is one of six established launch sites along the river, making it easy to plan multi-day trips or day paddles. Nearby camping is available at German Campground and Jenny Wiley State Resort Park near Dewey Lake for those planning extended visits to the area.
