Located in Anoka on the east bank of the Rum River, Akin Riverside Park offers convenient access to the lower Rum River and connections to the Mississippi River. The boat launch sits at the south end of the park and is situated just downstream from the public dock and boat slips. This is an established access point for motorboats, canoes, and kayaks looking to explore the lower Rum River corridor.
The site provides more than just water access—the Rum River Regional Trail begins at the boat launch and follows the shoreline northward through the park, offering scenic walking and biking opportunities. Paddlers can continue exploring by crossing the Rum River via the pedestrian bridge or paddling under the Main Street Bridge. Note that recreational boating traffic can navigate through marked floating silt curtains to reach the launch and nearby Port of Anoka docking facilities, so be aware of commercial and leisure boat activity in the area.
