About This Access Site
The Alaganik Slough Rest Area provides excellent access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to explore Alaganik Slough and the surrounding Copper River Delta. The boat ramp is located at the end of Alaganik Road, about 17 miles south of the Copper River Highway.

From the boat ramp, paddlers and boaters can access the calm, meandering waters of Alaganik Slough, which offers excellent opportunities for salmon fishing, wildlife viewing, and exploring the scenic delta landscape. The slough is tidal, so be aware of water levels and currents, especially if planning to travel further upstream. There is also a short, accessible boardwalk trail leading to viewing platforms overlooking the Copper River Delta.

For those seeking overnight accommodations, the Tiedeman Slough Cabin is located a short distance north up Alaganik Slough. This remote, reservable cabin provides a unique lodging experience, though access is only available by boat or float plane at high tide. Overall, the Alaganik Slough Rest Area is an excellent launching point for enjoying the natural beauty and recreational activities of this dynamic Alaskan waterway.
