Alta Lake State Park in Pateros offers excellent access for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters with two dedicated boat ramps and 60 feet of dock space. The park features full amenities including accessible parking, trailer dump station, restrooms with showers, picnic areas, and a concession stand. Note that personal watercraft and waterskiing are restricted to 9 a.m. and later, making early morning paddling an ideal time to enjoy quieter conditions on this freshwater lake.
The park is well-developed for day use and camping, with multiple loop options for overnight stays. Loop 2 is closest to the water, while Loop 1 offers sites with power and water hookups (though no sewer connections). A sandy swimming beach is also available near the boat launch. The scenic mountain views and nearby hiking trails make this a good base for exploring the Okanogan region's natural recreation.
