**Location & Access:** Alton Baker Park is Eugene's major regional metropolitan park, located along the right bank of the Willamette River between river miles 184-182. The park offers multiple launch options: a dedicated canoe/kayak launch site on the upriver end (built in 2004) and additional river access at the lower end. The concrete boat ramp is approximately 30 feet wide, making it easy to launch and load boats and paddling craft.
**What to Expect:** This is an excellent access point for paddlers on the Willamette River, a major Oregon waterway flowing through Eugene. Be aware that there are rapids approximately 150 yards above the Washington Street Bridge. The park also features an old millrace that provides a shorter paddling opportunity within park boundaries if you want to explore upstream without venturing far onto the main river. Additionally, the McKenzie River joins the Willamette nearby at river mile 175, offering potential for exploring multiple waterways from this location.
**Nearby Recreation:** Alton Baker Park itself offers extensive amenities beyond river access, making it a full-day destination. The area also provides convenient access to other recreation including the West Eugene Wetlands for wildlife viewing and disc golf, and Fern Ridge Lake (12 miles away) for those interested in different water activities.
