Alvin Public Water Access provides convenient boat launch facilities on Lake Alvin, a 105-acre artificial impoundment created by a dam on Ninemile Creek near Harrisburg. The site features a boat ramp, fishing pier, and restroom facilities with no entry permit required. Parking is available on dirt and grass surfaces in the public access area, with additional paved parking at the nearby Recreation Area.
**Important Note for Boaters:** Lake Alvin is designated as a no-wake zone with a strict 5 mph speed limit to protect shoreline erosion. All watercraft, including motorboats, kayaks, and canoes, must comply with this regulation at all times. The lake's moderate size and calm-water designation make it suitable for paddlers of all skill levels, though the 5 mph restriction means motorized vessels won't provide a noisy, congested atmosphere. This is an excellent spot for peaceful paddling, fishing, or leisurely boating.
