About This Access Site
Located in Montello, Apuckawa Park offers a developed public boat launch on Lake Puckaway, a 5,000+ acre shallow lake (maximum depth 5 feet) in Marquette County. The ramp is approximately 16 feet wide and suitable for small to medium-sized boats, with a 20-foot maximum boat length limit on the lake. The site is free to use and includes convenient amenities such as restrooms, parking, picnic areas, and a playground.

This is an excellent access point for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters looking to explore Lake Puckaway's calm waters. The lake supports fishing for musky, walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish. The area is also notable for wildlife viewing—bring binoculars to spot migratory birds and waterfowl around the lake. The Apuckawa Nature Trail adjacent to the park is perfect for stretching your legs before or after paddling, and the site's proximity to the Fox River National Wildlife Refuge makes it ideal for nature-oriented outings.
