Arapaho Drive

The Arapaho Drive ramp provides access to the Red River near Lake Texoma in Grayson County, Texas. This is a major waterway—the Red River is a substantial stream order 9 river with significant flow averaging over 68,000 cubic feet per second. The ramp can accommodate boats up to 20 feet and includes a boarding pier for easier loading and unloading. This access point is ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats into Lake Texoma, one of the largest lakes by capacity in the region.

Paddlers should be aware that the Red River has a moderate average gradient (1.6 ft/mile) and maintains an average velocity of nearly 6 feet per second, which means current can be a consideration depending on water conditions. Lake Texoma itself offers expansive recreation opportunities, and the nearby Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge (established in 1946) provides scenic paddling areas for viewing migrated birds and native wildlife. Big Mineral Camp is conveniently located within 10 miles if you're planning an overnight trip.
