About This Access Site
**Current Conditions & Access:** Arkabutla Lake, located on the Coldwater River near Memphis, Tennessee, is currently experiencing extended low water levels due to dam repairs. Most of the lake's eight boat ramps are temporarily closed. The primary accessible ramp is the gravel launch into the north river channel at the Highway 51 landing parking lot, though access is limited by current water flow and lake levels. Bayou Point Boat Ramp remains operational when water elevation is above 209 feet. Day-use passes are required for ramp access.

**Best Uses & Conditions:** The lake is known for excellent crappie fishing and some of the best sailing conditions east of the Mississippi River. However, paddlers and boaters should exercise caution during the current low-water period, as underwater hazards may be exposed or barely submerged. The river channel access at Highway 51 is recommended for canoeists and kayakers seeking a smaller-water experience. A fishing pier at Outlet Channel is also available.

**Nearby Amenities:** Three reservable campgrounds are within 10 miles—South Abutment, Dub Patton, and Hernando Point—providing convenient overnight options for paddlers planning extended trips.
