About This Access Site
This public boat ramp provides convenient access to the Aroostook River in Ashland, located just upstream of the Aroostook River Bridge on the river's right bank. To find the launch, follow Parsons Street along the west side of the river for 9.3 miles, then continue straight across Castle Hill Road to reach the driveway and parking area. Note that a railroad bridge crosses the river just before this access point, appearing suddenly after a river bend.

The Aroostook River offers good opportunities for canoeing and kayaking, with the area providing access to scenic shoreline and trout fishing. The launch serves as an ideal put-in for paddlers exploring this section of the river. Be aware of the nearby railroad and Castle Hill Road bridges when launching and planning your route. Additional access points exist elsewhere on the river, so paddlers can plan multi-access trips if desired.
