The Aroostook River Boat Ramp in Fort Fairfield provides convenient access to this northeastern Maine waterway for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The launch is located just upstream of the Aroostook River Bridge on the right side of the river, accessible via Parsons Street along the west side of the river. Watch for a railroad bridge just past a bend—the ramp is situated between this railroad crossing and the Castle Hill Road bridge. A dedicated parking area serves the launch facility.
This section of the Aroostook River offers opportunities for paddling, trolling, and fishing in a scenic Appalachian setting. The area is also near Riverside Pavilion Park, which provides additional shoreline access and recreation amenities. Paddlers heading downstream will encounter the Castle Hill Road bridge as the next major landmark. For those planning a longer trip, the Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge lies nearby in the northeast corner of Maine, offering additional scenic paddling and wildlife viewing opportunities.
