About This Access Site
The Ash River Visitor Center provides free public boat access to Kabetogama Lake, one of four major lakes within Voyageurs National Park. Located 28 miles south of International Falls and 11 miles off Highway 53 near Orr, this gateway facility offers a boat ramp, dock/pier, parking for vehicles and boat trailers, and benches. The visitor center itself is housed in the historic Meadwood Lodge and is open seasonally from late May through late September.

Kayakers and canoeists will find Kabetogama Lake ideal for exploring—experienced paddlers can navigate the lake's bays and channels while accessing numerous day-use sites and frontcountry campsites throughout Voyageurs National Park. From this ramp, you can boat directly to park campsites and discover the park's 218,000 acres of lakes, forests, and streams. Be aware that parking may be limited during construction periods. For questions or current conditions, contact the visitor center at (218) 374-3221.
