Avalon Lake

Avalon Lake, formed by an earth-fill dam built in 1907 on the Pecos River, offers public boat access through the Lake Avalon Marina located off Avalon Road in Eddy County. The marina features a public boat ramp and dock suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels. From the north, take US Highway 285 into Carlsbad, then turn left on Canal Street and continue 3 miles to Avalon Road.

The facility provides convenient amenities including fuel service and rental options (pontoons and jet skis available). Note that boating must conform to New Mexico regulations, and boating fees are charged.
