About This Access Site
Bacon Creek provides access to the Nolin River just above the main body of Nolin River Lake, in Hart County near Cub Run. This ramp serves as a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats looking to explore the upper river and lake system.

**What to Expect:** The Nolin River in this area is relatively shallow, with depths typically ranging from 2-4 feet. Be aware that shoals and shallow areas exist within 300 yards downstream of the ramp, which can present obstacles for larger boats and deeper-draft vessels. A partially submerged tree hazard has been reported in the river between the ramp and the lake, so proceed carefully when heading downstream toward the main lake body.

**Nearby Resources:** Bacon Creek is part of the larger Nolin River Lake recreation area, known for excellent fishing opportunities (catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye). Dog Creek Campground is nearby on the lake's shores if you're planning an overnight trip. The lake maintains one of the lowest drowning rates in Kentucky and hosts over two million annual visitors. For more information, contact the facility at 270-524-5454.
