Baker Lake

Baker Lake is a scenic nine-mile reservoir located in the Mount Baker National Recreation Area near Concrete, Washington. The boat ramp at this access site features a gentle to moderate grade with ample parking and vault toilet facilities, making it convenient for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. Note that depending on seasonal lake levels, the asphalt ramp may not extend all the way to the shoreline. The site provides excellent opportunities for fishing (salmon and native trout are available), and on clear days, paddlers will enjoy views of Mt. Baker.

Several U.S. Forest Service campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the access site, including Horseshoe Cove, Swift Creek, and Shannon Creek campgrounds—all offering reservable campsites, water access, and typical forest service amenities. Swift Creek Campground even features a small beach and direct lake access for paddlers. The area is ideal for summer and early fall recreation, with opportunities for hiking, fishing, and camping in addition to paddling the forested reservoir.
