Baldwin Lake

Baldwin Lake Boat Ramp, located in the Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area near Marissa in St. Clair County, offers convenient access to this 2,018-acre cooling lake. The facility features a well-maintained two-lane concrete boat ramp and a fully blacktopped parking lot suitable for cars and trailers, making it ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats.

Paddlers should note the 50 horsepower motor limit on the lake. The shoreline is predominantly composed of rock rip-rap (approximately 75%), which provides scenic views but offers limited natural landing areas. Shore angler access is available on the west and north sides of the lake, indicating these areas may have better access for paddlers as well. The large surface area makes Baldwin Lake suitable for recreational paddling, fishing, and boating activities.
