Balmorhea Lake

**Location & Facilities:** Balmorhea Lake is located 2 miles southeast of the town of Balmorhea in Reeves County, Texas. The access site features a one-lane concrete boat ramp with adequate launching facilities, shoreline access, picnic areas, and nearby camping options (additional camping available at Balmorhea State Park, 7 miles away). A use fee is charged for access.

**Water Conditions & Considerations:** This shallow reservoir experiences significant seasonal fluctuations in water level, which can impact ramp accessibility—the concrete ramp may be completely out of water during summer months. Before visiting, especially in warmer seasons, contact the local TPWD District Fisheries Office (325-651-5556) to confirm current water levels and ramp conditions. The lake features large rocks near the dam and cobble on the southwest side, with aquatic vegetation (sago pondweed and bulrushes) on the north and west sides.
