Bar-B Campground provides direct access to Toledo Bend Reservoir via a dedicated boat ramp, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters exploring this large impoundment. The facility offers RV hook-ups, a fishing pier, fish cleaning station, and boat storage options. A 1-bedroom rental trailer is also available for those wanting overnight accommodations ($65/night). The surrounding area features wooded landscape with scenic shoreline.

The campground maintains 20 campsites with electric and water on a first-come, first-served basis for $6 per night (up to 14 days camping). Located in the northern portion of Sabine National Forest near the Texas-Louisiana border, the site is accessible from Shelbyville, Texas via Highway 87 south, then FM 417 east and FM 2694 south (approximately 6.5 miles total from Highway 87). Toledo Bend Reservoir is a large, calm-water impoundment ideal for recreational paddling and fishing, though paddlers should use only designated boat ramps and be aware of potential motorboat traffic typical of major reservoirs.

With the Toledo Bend Reservoir just six miles miles away, Boles Field offers an opportunity to visit one of the nation's most regarded freshwater fishing sites.

The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas provide excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. East Texas lies in the path of warblers, vireos and other species of neotropical migrants, and birders look forward to the spring migration.
Facilities
Uniquely developed for large gatherings, Boles Field has an amphitheater which holds approximately 100 people and group shelter that accommodate family events. Both are for day-use only.
