Located just below the dam off State Highway 252 near Meador in Allen County, Barren River Lake Tailwater offers a convenient boat launch for paddlers and small boaters. The facility features a single-lane concrete ramp at the campground with a paved parking lot equipped with security lights. The ramp is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small jon boats. Basic amenities include restrooms with flushing toilets and showers, picnic areas, potable water, and a dump station (water and electric to campsites are available during peak season only).
Paddlers should note that while the launch ramp is well-maintained, there is no official take-out ramp on the tailwater section—plan to pull out at a gravel area with nearby vehicle access. Before heading out, call the Barren River Lake Information Line at (270) 646-2122 (updated daily at 7 a.m. Central) to check discharge rates and current water levels, which is especially important for this tailwater section. Ensure your boat meets all Kentucky boating laws and regulations.
