Bartlett Reservoir on the Verde River offers excellent boating access via the Jojoba Boat Launch, the primary launch site at this 2,815-acre lake. The multi-lane ramp accommodates high-volume boating traffic and includes ample trailer parking, restrooms, picnic areas, and a fish cleaning station. Located about 13 miles east of Carefree via Bartlett Dam Road (Forest Road 19), the site is managed by the Forest Service. The Verde River feeding this reservoir is a substantial waterway—a large river (Stream Order 7) draining 5,826 square miles with an average flow of 493 cubic feet per second. The reservoir itself sits at approximately 1,600 feet elevation in the lower desert section of the Verde River system. Nearby Riverside Campground offers camping options within 10 miles. Carefree is the nearest town for fuel, groceries, restaurants, and other supplies, while boat rentals, fuel, groceries, and fishing equipment are available at the lake itself.
