Barton Park offers one of the most popular and accessible launch points on the Clackamas River, located just south of Boring off Highway 224. The well-maintained boat ramp accommodates kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft year-round, with the summer months seeing peak activity for floating and recreation. Day-use parking is available with a $5 fee (cash or credit) at the yellow parking dispensers near the ramp. For current conditions and information, contact the park at 503-742-4414.
The 122-acre park provides excellent amenities beyond river access, including restrooms, picnic areas, and multiple shelters. If you're planning a longer paddle, Barton Park serves as a reference point on the Clackamas Water Trail, with information available on-site about river mileages to other access points and alternative float routes. Many paddlers also put in along the open riparian area adjacent to the ramp. Nearby, Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge and the Sandy Wild and Scenic River offer additional recreation opportunities in the region.
