Bass Hole, also known as Gray's Beach, is a public boat ramp located at the mouth of Chase Garden Creek in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. This site offers convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and small boats looking to explore the creek and surrounding salt marsh. The launch area features a historic boardwalk that extends into the marsh, providing excellent views of coastal habitat and wildlife while serving as a scenic entry point to the water.
The site is well-situated for paddling in calm, protected waters ideal for kayaks and canoes. At the end of Centre Street off Route 6A, Bass Hole provides free parking and nearby amenities including local restaurants and shops on Center Street. Note that there are no lifeguards or bathrooms at the site itself, though Wilbur Park nearby offers a picnic area. Low tide access to the clam flats and creek margins makes this spot popular with recreational anglers and naturalists as well.
Paddlers should be aware that the marsh area is sensitive habitat. The boardwalk and creek support nesting terns and other migratory bird populations, so visitors are encouraged to respect wildlife and stay aware of seasonal bird nesting activities. The site is easily accessible and provides a scenic launch point for exploring Chase Garden Creek's estuarine environment.
