Bayfield City

Located in downtown Bayfield on Lake Superior's shoreline, this municipal boat ramp provides excellent access to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and surrounding waters. The landing benefits from protection against wind from most directions, making it a relatively sheltered launch point. A day-use fee is required. For visitor information and permits related to the nearby Apostle Islands, stop by the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters located one block away in the historic Old County Courthouse building on Washington Avenue.

This ramp serves as the closest public access point to Long Island and the Sioux and Onion Rivers, making it ideal for paddlers and boaters exploring the northern Bayfield Peninsula. The nearby Apostle Islands National Lakeshore offers 21 islands and scenic shoreline to explore. For additional amenities and a multi-lane facility, the Bayfield Marina is located 15 miles north. The park's headquarters is located in the Bayfield, WI in the old Bayfield Courthouse Building. This iconic, brownstone building is easy to recognize from Washington Ave. Headquarters offers orientation and information, camping permits, museum exhibits, a park film, and the America's National Parks bookstore. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters is open seasonally.
