About This Access Site
**Location & Water Body:** Baylor Lake is a 610-acre reservoir located 12 miles west of Childress on the Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River in the Texas Panhandle. The lake features a maximum depth of 50 feet with a mean depth of 15 feet, providing decent water volume for boating and paddling activities.

**Current Conditions & Access:** Please note that **public boat ramps on Baylor Lake are currently closed due to low water levels**. Contact local parks management for current updates on ramp conditions before planning your trip. The lake does offer good shoreline access for kayakers and canoeists despite limited facility availability. Camping and picnic sites are available around the lake for those planning extended visits.

**Recreation Opportunities:** Baylor Lake is popular with anglers targeting largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and sunfish. The calm waters make it suitable for paddling, and shoreline fishing access is available. Before visiting, confirm current water levels and ramp status to ensure your intended water activities are feasible.
