About This Access Site
Bayou Lacombe in Lacombe offers a convenient public boat launch with good facilities for small to medium-sized vessels. The main launch features a paved ramp and large gravel parking lot, making it accessible for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. An additional put-in option exists at Elenore Drive with limited parking for 2-3 vehicles and no formal ramp. The ramp is located at the southern end of Highway 434 (Lake Road), near where Bayou Lacombe meets the waters heading toward Lake Pontchartrain.

From this launch, paddlers can explore two distinct paddling directions: westward and northward through winding bayou passages, or southward toward Lake Pontchartrain. The area is popular for fishing and crabbing, indicating calm, sheltered water suitable for small craft. Nearby recreational opportunities include access to Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge along Lake Pontchartrain's north shore and the Pearl River's three-pool system for day-use boating and fishing.

**Directions:** Take I-12 to Exit 74 (Highway 434), head south toward Lacombe, jog west on Highway 190, then continue south on Highway 434 (Lake Road) to the launch area.
