About This Access Site
The Bayou Road boat ramp provides access to Bayou Courtableau in St. Landry Parish, a scenic waterway in the heart of Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin region. This one-lane concrete ramp with gravel parking is located in the northwestern area of the basin and serves as a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring the bayou system. The area offers opportunities to paddle through diverse bottomland hardwood habitat within the 595,000-acre Atchafalaya Basin, the largest contiguous tract of bottomland hardwoods in the United States.

The calm, slow-moving waters of Bayou Courtableau are well-suited for paddlers of various skill levels. From this access point, boaters can explore the Atchafalaya Basin's extensive waterway network and visit nearby natural areas including the Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge. The relatively flat terrain and protected basin setting make this an ideal destination for leisurely paddling and wildlife viewing. Before launching, confirm current water conditions and any access requirements at the site.
