Located in North Bonneville near the historic Bonneville Lock and Dam, this boat launch provides direct access to the Columbia River at a significant location where Lewis and Clark first measured tidal influences from the Pacific Ocean. The launch facility includes one boat ramp, 916 feet of moorage dock, and a boat pumpout station, making it well-equipped for both day trips and longer excursions. Ample parking, restrooms, drinking water, and picnic facilities are available for visitors.
The Columbia River at this location offers diverse paddling opportunities depending on conditions. Protected waters in nearby Hardy Slough and Hamilton Creek provide calmer alternatives during winter or high water periods, making them ideal for kayakers and canoeists seeking shelter from the main channel. The area is excellent for wildlife viewing—keep an eye out for bald eagles (especially during salmon season), sea lions, and occasionally Roosevelt Elk herds on the adjacent islands near Pierce National Wildlife Refuge.
Beacon Rock State Park is a full-service facility with year-round camping available through Eagle Creek Campground (about 10 miles away and reservable), plus day-use amenities including shelters and picnic areas. The 4,650-acre park offers 9,500 feet of freshwater shoreline, making it a comprehensive base for Columbia River recreation.
