Bean Lake is a 164-acre public access lake located in Westbrook, Cottonwood County, with a maximum depth of 12 feet. The access point features a carry-in launch on the southwest end of the lake, accessible from the Red Dot ATV/Snowmobile trail. This access works well for kayakers, canoeists, and smaller trailered boats (typically 12-18 feet), though there are no launch fees required.
Paddlers should be aware that the access area has experienced erosion from unregulated brush clearing and illegal ATV activity, which has also impacted the lake outlet structure. Users are encouraged to respect the shoreline and use designated trails. Bean Lake's relatively shallow maximum depth and modest size make it suitable for recreational paddling and fishing, offering a peaceful paddling destination in southwestern Minnesota.
