The Bear Creek Lake Recreation Area provides a boat ramp and access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats on Bear Creek and Bear Creek Lake. The 625-acre recreation area sits atop Crowley's Ridge and offers 30 miles of shoreline, with opportunities for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and hiking.
The boat ramp is located about 7 miles southeast of Marianna, Arkansas, off Arkansas Highway 44. The ramp provides access to the lake and creek, which are known for their populations of largemouth bass, bream, and channel catfish. Additional access points for non-motorized craft can be found around the lake, accessible via Forest Service roads. The recreation area includes three campgrounds, two picnic areas, a one-mile nature trail, a swim beach, and a handicap-accessible fishing pier, providing a variety of recreational experiences for visitors.
Boaters and paddlers should be aware that the lake and creek have no electricity, but potable water is available at hydrants near the boat ramp parking lot. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Anglers should note that largemouth bass between 13-16 inches must be released. Overall, the Bear Creek Lake Recreation Area offers a scenic and well-equipped access point for enjoying the water resources of the region.
