Bear Rock Lake is a small, scenic 12-acre lake located in Valley Grove, Ohio County, WV, offering a peaceful paddling and fishing destination. The lake reaches a maximum depth of 35 feet and features a public boat launch conveniently located near the parking lot, making access straightforward for kayakers and canoeists. The Water Management Area maintains vault toilets on-site for visitor convenience.
**Boating Regulations:** Only electric motors are permitted on Bear Rock Lake, making it ideal for quiet recreation. Non-motorized boats—including kayaks and canoes—are welcome and can enjoy the calm waters in a natural setting. The area is managed by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and supports both trout (stocked seasonally) and warmwater fish species including largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish, making it attractive for anglers as well as paddlers.
Note that camping is not permitted at this Water Management Area. Be aware that this is a small lake best suited for day-use paddling and fishing rather than extended water adventures.
