Located in Oak Island within Chambers County, Beason Park offers two small concrete boat ramps providing convenient access to the West Fork of Double Bayou. Named after a historic Double Bayou lighthouse keeper, the park sits at the confluence of the East and West Forks, making it a practical launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. The facility includes amenities nearby, with restaurants, a convenience store, and a motel located in the immediate area.
The southern branch of the bayou offers undeveloped paddling with scenic, natural surroundings ideal for kayaking and fishing. Waters are notably deep with interesting structure—the first major bend features shallow flats popular with anglers. The northern branch is more developed with industrial sites but provides alternative exploration. Water conditions freshen after rainfall, and the area is known for good fishing opportunities, particularly for redfish.
Beason Park works well as either a launch or take-out point for multi-day paddles in the Double Bayou system, with nearby Wallisville Lake and Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge offering additional paddling options in the region.
