Located in the Ottawa National Forest near Stickley in Gogebic County, Beatons Lake offers two distinct launch options for different watercraft. The 300-acre lake features a gravel-surfaced boat ramp suitable for small to medium-sized motorboats, as well as a dedicated carry-down launch area designed for canoes and car-top kayaks. This dual-access setup makes Beatons Lake accessible to both paddlers and traditional boaters.
The site is situated approximately 9 miles northwest of Watersmeet and serves as a convenient gateway to the wider Ottawa National Forest recreation area. Paddlers should note that the gravel ramp may have seasonal conditions affecting access during wet periods. The lake's size and setting within the national forest make it ideal for a full day of paddling, and nearby camping options—including the Sylvania Wilderness Backcountry Camping and Sylvania Campground (both reservable)—allow for extended exploration of the region.
