About This Access Site
Beck Lake is a 1958 borrow pit located in Des Plaines, Cook County, offering a well-maintained concrete boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and electric motor boats. The southwest ramp provides direct concrete access to the water level, eliminating the need to wade or scrape boat bottoms. The lake features ample parking with dedicated trailer parking, plus accessible restroom facilities. Note that gas-powered motors are prohibited—electric trolling motors only.

The 40+ acre lake has good depth and summer vegetation, supporting stocked game fish including northern pike and walleye, making it attractive for both paddlers and anglers. A protected wildlife island occupies the center of the lake with restricted access. Beck Lake is also designated for ice fishing during winter months, extending its recreational value throughout the year.
