Bee Lake

**Location & Permits:** Bee Lake is a 400-acre oxbow lake located near Tchula in Holmes County, Mississippi. A permit must be purchased from the lake store before using the boat ramp, so plan accordingly before your visit.

**Ramp Conditions:** The public boat ramp is narrow and short, requiring caution during launch and recovery. While manageable for light trailerable boats, it is not among the state's premier facilities. The ramp does not have accessibility features for persons with disabilities. The lake itself features shallow waters with a muddy bottom—typical conditions for an oxbow system.

**Recreation Opportunities:** Bee Lake offers good paddling and fishing opportunities, with nearby access to Morgan Brake National Wildlife Refuge and Hillside National Wildlife Refuge for wildlife viewing and exploration. Note that wading entry into the lake requires permission from property owners; paddlers should launch from the boat ramp. The shallow, protected waters make this a suitable destination for kayaks, canoes, and other small recreational boats.
