The Beeswax Creek boat ramp provides direct access to Lay Lake, a wide and navigable section of the Coosa River in central Alabama. This public access point is located off State Highway 145 near the town of Columbiana, making it a convenient option for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats.
The ramp itself is a concrete launch suitable for trailered watercraft. Nearby, there is ample parking and space to load/unload gear. While amenities on-site are limited, there are several marinas, fish camps, and other boat launch sites located along Lay Lake that can provide additional services and facilities.
The Coosa River through this region is a large, slow-moving waterway with a wide, lake-like character. Paddlers can expect fairly calm conditions well-suited for recreational use, while motor boaters will find ample room to navigate. The river does see regular recreational use, so be mindful of boat traffic, particularly near the Beeswax Creek access area.
