Bell Crossing is a state fishing access site located north of Victor on Highway 93 near Stevensville, offering a concrete boat ramp on river left with a well-developed parking area. This day-use-only facility provides access to a popular and scenic stretch of the Bitterroot River managed as a trophy trout section (catch-and-release). The ramp reopens an important access point that reduces crowding on other popular river stretches, particularly between Bell Crossing and Stevensville Bridge—a common float trip for anglers and paddlers.
The site is well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and drift boats looking to float downstream toward Florence or take out at the Stevensville Bridge. The area offers excellent wade fishing opportunities year-round for foot anglers working upstream or downstream. The immediate surroundings provide access to the Bitterroot National Forest and the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, adding to the scenic value of the area.
For paddlers planning to camp nearby, Charles Waters Campground and the reservable Larry Creek Group Camp are both within 10 miles. Plan ahead during peak season, as this stretch has seen increased boat traffic in recent years. The site's concrete ramp and ample parking make it a reliable launching point for both day trips and longer floats on this popular southwestern Montana river.
