This boat ramp provides access to the 8,000-acre Belle Fourche Reservoir, located eight miles east of Belle Fourche, SD on US 212. The reservoir offers 58 miles of shoreline across approximately 8,040 water surface acres, making it suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. **Note:** This is designated as the "Low Water" ramp, so water levels can fluctuate significantly—check current conditions before launching, especially during dry periods.
Rocky Point Recreation Area is the primary access hub, featuring a full-service facility with a boat ramp, sandy beach, campground (62 campsites and 2 cabins), fish cleaning stations, picnic shelters, and playground. The reservoir is open year-round and supports populations of walleye, catfish, and white bass, making it popular with anglers. Paddlers should be prepared for reservoir conditions—calm in protected coves but potentially windy on open water—and plan accordingly with proper safety equipment.
