Bennetts Point Boat Ramp

Bennetts Point is a county-maintained boat access on Mosquito Creek in Colleton County, located at the end of County Road 26 on Bear Island. The site features a gravel boat ramp at a bridge crossing with adequate parking for multiple vehicles and trailers. Note that this is primarily a working commercial seafood dock rather than a dedicated recreational facility, so paddlers and boaters should be respectful of ongoing commercial operations.

The ramp provides access to Mosquito Creek, which flows through the ACE Basin—one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast. This area is part of the Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge and the ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve, making it an excellent destination for kayakers and canoeists interested in exploring pristine tidal marshes, wildlife viewing, and migratory bird habitat. The waters here are typically calm and suitable for paddlers of various skill levels, though conditions vary with tides.
