About This Access Site
Located in Keosauqua at the east end of the village, Bentonsport Park offers a convenient boat ramp for accessing the Lower Des Moines River Water Trail. The ramp is situated next to the historic Odd Fellows Hall and provides easy launch access for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. This is a popular put-in point for day trips on the Lower Des Moines River, with common float routes heading downstream to Bonaparte (3 miles) or Farmington (6 miles).

The park features full amenities including a 23-site gravel campground with shower facilities, shelter, playground, and rose garden—making it ideal for paddlers planning multi-day trips or wanting to camp before or after their float. The scenic Lower Des Moines River at this section offers opportunities to see wildlife along the forested banks and cabins dotting the shoreline. Sandbar camping is permitted on this section of the meandered stream, providing additional camping options for paddlers.
