The South Ramp provides convenient public access to Big Arbor Vitae Lake, a 1,070-acre lake in Vilas County near Woodruff. Located at 10292 Little Arbor Vitae Drive, this well-maintained boat launch offers reliable access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp features both paved and gravel options, making it suitable for various watercraft and launch conditions.
Big Arbor Vitae Lake offers moderate depths with a maximum of 41 feet and mean depth of 18 feet, providing good paddling opportunities across the lake. Note that the water has lower clarity, so navigation by landmarks may be helpful. The lake supports diverse fish populations including walleye, musky, largemouth bass, and panfish, making it popular with anglers as well as recreational paddlers.
