This DNR-owned access point is located on the west shore near the south end of Big Carnelian Lake, accessible via County Road 11. The ramp is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and smaller motorboats, though larger vessels (over 19 feet) may find launching and maneuvering challenging at this site. Shore fishing is available in the bay near the boat access.
Big Carnelian Lake is a compact water body that offers a pleasant paddling experience for recreational kayakers and canoeists. The surrounding area includes the St. Croix Wetland Management District, which provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, particularly for birdwatchers interested in waterfowl habitat. This makes the location ideal for a half-day outing combining paddling with nature observation.
