About This Access Site
**Big Eau Pleine County Park's South Unit 1 provides a well-developed boat launch facility on the 6,348-acre Big Eau Pleine Reservoir in Marathon County.** The dedicated boat landing lot offers 39 parking spaces (14 for cars with trailers, 25 for cars), along with a dumpster and recycling station. A paved path connects to the main beach area, which features additional amenities including vault restrooms, water pumps, and picnic facilities.

**This is an excellent access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the reservoir.** The maximum depth of 46 feet supports diverse recreational fishing (Musky, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye), and the large surface area provides plenty of open water paddling. Paddlers should note that if planning a downstream trip on the Big Eau Pleine River itself, Highway 153 presents a tricky put-in; instead, plan for a 2.2-mile paddle downstream to the Maryel Drive Boat Ramp for a more convenient take-out.
