Located in Mosinee near Highway 153, the West Unit provides convenient access to the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, a 6,348-acre lake with depths up to 46 feet. The boat landing lot offers 39 parking spaces (14 for cars with trailers, 25 for cars), a paved path, dumpster, and recycling station. The adjacent beach area includes 100 total parking spaces, restrooms, water pumps, and picnic facilities with shelters and grills. This is a well-developed facility suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger boats.
Paddlers should note that Highway 153 (approximately 2.2 miles upstream) is not an ideal take-out point due to challenging access conditions. The Maryel Drive Boat Ramp serves as an alternative exit if you're planning a longer paddle. The reservoir supports healthy populations of musky, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye, making it popular with anglers as well as recreational paddlers. Multiple public boat launches are available around the reservoir if you need alternatives.
