**Location & Access:** Big Eddy is a public boat ramp located in Superior, Montana, on the Clark Fork River. The site features a cement ramp with ample parking, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters exploring this scenic stretch of river.
**Paddling & River Conditions:** Big Eddy serves as an excellent access point for non-technical floats on the Clark Fork. A popular full-day paddle extends approximately 11 miles downstream, with the option to extend to roughly 14 miles if continuing to Dry Creek. The river offers manageable conditions suitable for recreational paddlers of varying skill levels. **Important:** Be aware that the Clark Fork River is currently closed downstream from Big Eddy to the US Forest Service Slowey Campground due to ongoing fire and drought-related restrictions. Big Eddy is the last public take-out above this closure. Check fwp.mt.gov for current updates on access restrictions before planning your trip.
**Nearby Resources:** Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles of the access site, including Cascade Campground (reservable), Muchwater Dispersed Campground and Recreation Area, and Peninsula Dispersed Campground and Recreation Area, making it easy to plan a multi-day paddling adventure.
