Big Lake Campground

Big Lake Campground offers a public boat launch providing access to Big Lake, an 827-acre lake in Vilas County, Wisconsin. The ramp is located in Katinka Village, conveniently positioned between Manitowish Waters and Presque Isle. This is a well-developed access point suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters, with an ADA-accessible boat launch and adjacent parking lot.

Big Lake is a popular destination for both paddling and fishing, with a maximum depth of 61 feet and a diverse fishery including walleye, musky, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish. The campground itself is a hub of summer activity and offers amenities including vault toilets, drinking water, and picnic facilities. This makes it an excellent base camp for multi-day paddling trips or day outings, though visitors should expect moderate to busy conditions during peak summer months due to both motorized and non-motorized boating activity.
