About This Access Site
Big Lake North is a popular public access site located on the southeast side of Big Lake, about 15 miles north of Wasilla, Alaska. The site features a well-maintained boat ramp that provides easy access to the 5,100-acre lake for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters.

The boat ramp is situated within a 19-acre state recreation area that offers a variety of amenities, including 60 campsites, 24 picnic sites, restrooms, and drinking water. The site is wheelchair accessible and can accommodate vehicles with trailers. Boaters should be aware that there is a daily parking fee to use the facility.

Big Lake is a large, relatively shallow lake that is popular for fishing, water sports, and other recreational activities. Paddlers will find the lake offers a mix of open water and sheltered coves to explore, with the ability to access nearby wetlands and streams. Motorized boaters should exercise caution due to the lake's size and the potential for changing wind and weather conditions.
