Big Lake South

The Big Lake South access site provides a convenient boat ramp for paddlers, canoeists, and motorized boaters to launch onto the 7-mile long Big Lake. The paved boat ramp is located off Mile 5.2 of South Big Lake Road, about 15 miles north of Wasilla, Alaska.

Big Lake is a popular destination for fishing, wildlife viewing, and recreational boating. The lake is relatively shallow, with an average depth of 10-15 feet, making it well-suited for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized craft. Boaters should be aware of potential wind and wave conditions, as the open water can produce choppy conditions on windy days.
